I have 2 play 5 hooked to a sound bar. But I would like to also use the line in on the play 5. Apparently, the line in is disabled when the speakers are set up us surround for the bar. Is there a quick and easy way to temporarily remove the play 5 as surrounds and then adding them back without havin. Sonos does not recognize when my turntable is playing. Under the MUSIC ICON, make sure that you have LINE IN selected. For your FIVE to automatically do this when your turntable is playing, go to Autoplay settings and turn it on that option (see 4.2). 👉 shop our Sonos Turntable Package. The Play 5 is the 'control unit' for all other Sonos speakers on your system. Not ALL audio sources from the internet are compatible with the Sonos system like 'Audible' from Amazon. I listen to books on Audible and I have to plug my cell phone into one of my Play 5 speakers in order to hear my audio books on the Sonos system.

I have a turntable with a built-in pre-amp connected to a Play 5 purchased a few months ago. Yesterday I noticed the Auto-Play isn't working anymore when I drop the needle on an album. Have tried power cycle, speaker reboot, app re-install—but nothing has worked. Anyone had a recent issue or have an. That same employee suggested that if I was committed to using Sonos speakers as my computer speakers, that I go with a PLAY:5. Unlike the Play:1 and Sonos One, the Play:5 has a 3.5mm, meaning I wouldn't have to setup autoplay through the app. Turning your Sonos speakers is difficult and pricey, admittedly, and Sonos itself frowns against it.
Some love it for the warm, pristine sound quality or the crackly nostalgia of hearing the needle glide through the grooves. Others enjoy the tactile experience of opening a record, laying it on the turntable and focusing their attention on just one thing—The sonic equivalent of cracking open a book.
Whether you're an audiophile record collector, casual listener, or still scratching your head about the whole thing, it's undeniable: Vinyl is here to stay.
Even as streaming music flourishes and dominates our listening, our appetite for vinyl keeps growing: Over the last 12 years, U.S. vinyl sales have grown every year, with similar upward trends happening around the world.
With Sonos, you don't have to choose between streaming and spinning. In addition to working with over 80 digital music services, our home sound system can plug right into your turntable setup and let you fill your home with the warm sound of your favorite albums on vinyl.
Connect your turntable to your Sonos system
There are three ways to do this. You'll need one of the following Sonos products:
Five (+ Stereo Mini to RCA Y-Audio Cable)
Amp
Port
Of course, you'll also need a turntable, like the T1 SB Phono turntable from Pro-Ject. We recommend that one because it has a phono preamp built in. If your turntable doesn't have a phono preamp (most of them don't), you'll need to get one for the Sonos vinyl experience to work best. You can learn more about this on our Community site.
Once you have everything you need, just follow the appropriate set of instructions below:
For Five and Play:5
Plug your turntable directly into our biggest speaker using the line-in port on the back.
Plug the single end of an RCA Y-audio cable into the line-in port of Five/Play:5 and attach the split cable to the corresponding colors of the L/R audio outputs on the back of your turntable.
For Amp
If you have a turntable and third party speakers but no amplifier, you can connect them to the Sonos system directly using Sonos Amp.
Just take the audio cable that comes with your Amp. Plug one end into the your turntable and the other end into corresponding colors of the L/R inputs at the back of your Sonos Amp.
For Port
Sonos Port is perfect if you already have an amplifier and a set of third-party speakers. Port lets you use your amplified audio equipment to bring the sound of your vinyl collection into your Sonos system—and to more rooms.
Just take the audio cable that comes with your Port. Plug one end into your turntable and the other end into the corresponding colors of the L/R inputs at the back of your Port.
